How Do I Share a Deck?

Click Share in the editor, enter someone's email and pick Editor or Viewer. They open the deck from their own Rideful account, and if they don't have one yet, the invite email walks them through signing up.

Invite Someone

  1. Open the deck and click Share in the top bar (it reads Public while the public link is on).
  2. Under Invite people, enter the person's email, choose Editor or Viewer, and click Send.

What happens next depends on whether the address already has a Rideful account:

  • They have an account — they get access right away and an email telling them the deck was shared. The deck appears under Shared with me in their sidebar.
  • They don't have an account — they get an email with a link to the deck. They sign up with that same address, verify it, and the deck opens with the role you chose. The invite shows as Invite pending in the Share dialog until then, and it expires after 7 days.

Only the deck's owner can invite people. Templates can't be shared this way; publish a template instead.

A viewer opens the same link as everyone else and sees the deck read-only, with Export and Present in the top bar and no chat panel.

The owner role can't be given away.

Manage Who Has Access

The Share dialog lists you as the owner, then everyone with access, then pending invites.

  • Change a role with the Editor/Viewer menu beside a person. It takes effect immediately: an editor downgraded to viewer sees the read-only view without reloading, and an upgraded viewer gets the editor. Unsaved edits in progress when access changes are lost.
  • Remove someone with the × beside them. Their open page switches to “You don't have access to this deck”.
  • Resend a pending or expired invite with the arrow icon; it restarts the 7-day expiry.
  • Cancel a pending invite with the × beside it.

Inviting someone who already has access changes their role. Inviting an address that already has a pending invite updates its role and sends it again.

Shared With Me

Decks other people share with you are listed under Shared with me in the sidebar, newest edit first. Each card shows who edited it last.

  • Shared decks don't go in your folders; the list is flat.
  • To take a deck off your list, open the card's menu and choose Remove from Shared with me. That removes your access; the owner has to invite you again to get it back.
  • If an editor duplicates a shared deck or saves it as a template, the copy is theirs and lands on their own Shelf. It stays theirs even if their access to the original is later removed.

What Stays Private

Each person's conversations with the AI agent are their own. An editor's chats and runs on a shared deck are visible only to that editor, not to the owner or anyone else. The deck's files (rules, brief and design system) belong to the deck, so everyone who can edit it works from the same ones.

Invites or the Public Link

The Share dialog offers both, and they are independent:

  • Public view-only link — anyone with the link can view, present and export the deck, with no account. It can't be limited to certain people, and it can't grant editing.
  • Invites — go to named people, need a Rideful account, can be Editor or Viewer, can be removed one person at a time, and put the deck in the person's Shared with me list.

Turning the public link off doesn't affect anyone you invited.

If the Owner Moves the Deck to the Trash

Everyone else loses access while the deck is in the trash and sees “The owner moved this deck to the trash”. Restoring it brings their access back. Deleting it permanently removes all access and cancels pending invites.

From an AI Assistant over MCP

deck_list returns the decks you own and the decks shared with you, each with your role (owner, editor or viewer). An assistant can edit a deck where you're an editor. On a deck where you're a viewer, write tools are refused with an access-denied error. Sharing itself is done in the app; there is no MCP tool for inviting people.

Common Issues

  • “You don't have access to this deck”: the invite went to a different address than the one you signed in with, or your access was removed. Sign in with the invited address, or ask the owner to invite the one you use.
  • Signed up but the deck didn't open: the invite is claimed once your email address is verified. Verify it, then open the link again or check Shared with me.
  • Invite expired: invites expire after 7 days. The owner can click Resend in the Share dialog.
  • “Invitation saved, but the email wasn't sent”: the invite exists but its email failed. Click Resend in a minute.
  • “Invitation just sent; try again in a minute”: the same invite can be sent at most once a minute.
  • “Too many invites; try again later”: there is an hourly and a daily limit on invites per person.
  • No Share button: only the owner can share a deck.
